Harper Adams graduate Drew Patrick has been awarded New Auctioneer of the Year in the 2019 Mart's the Heart competition hosted by the Farmers Guardian.
Drew returned to Harper after graduating from BSc (Hons) Agriculture for the Certificate of Higher Education in Livestock Market Operations and Management course, which he successfully completed last week, the same week he was announced as the winner in his category.
Drew, who works at Hexham & Northern marts, said: "Winning feels like an amazing achievement which I’m still struggling to believe. It is a massive honour to be recognised for my work, by my clients and colleagues. It’s a good feeling to know your hard work is appreciated."
Auctioneer of the Year was awarded to Greg Dougall who also completed the Livestock Market Operations and Management course at Harper.
Mart's the Heart recognises the hard work of auctioneers and market staff, and their dedication to the industry with four awards that are presented annually: auctioneer of the year, new auctioneer of the year, auction cafe of the year, and the lifetime achievement award.
The awards night will take place on October 17.
